The C3 Intake Breather Filter is a compact aluminum-and-rubber filter for the engine’s crankcase breather line. It helps keep snow, ice, dirt, and mud from plugging the vent while still allowing positive crankcase pressure to escape.

Why it matters
A blocked breather can allow pressure to build in the engine and contribute to oil leakage at seals such as the valve-cover gasket. Separating the breather from the main intake also keeps oily residue or sludge from being drawn back into the intake, including after a tip-over. The filter can be useful in dirtbike and snowbike service throughout the year.
Size selection and what’s included
Choose the inlet that matches the inside diameter of the motorcycle’s breather hose. The available stepped versions use either a 1/2-inch or 1/4-inch first diameter and a 3/4-inch second step. Measure the hose rather than selecting by appearance. The package is a filter-only service part with its retaining clamp; it may already be included in a complete C3 intake kit.
Installation
Attach the filter to the end of the PCV or crankcase vent hose and secure it with the supplied clamp. Position it away from direct snow spray and fasten it to a protected area, typically near the frame. C3 advises placing the filter at the low point of the vent run so condensed oil and water do not collect in a hose dip. Avoid kinks, hot surfaces, moving parts, and any routing that can pinch when the motorcycle is assembled.
